 Summertime is a time of fun. All that we want to do is hang out with our friends and go shopping. What we forget about are the funds that we need to enjoy the summer. Some of us never think about getting a job. We just think about the 1-800-mom/dad-I-need-money line. It doesn't have to be this way.
Many different companies are ready and willing to hire teens for summer employment. It's not that hard to get a job. Summer working hours are flexible, so they will not take away too much time from your day.
The good part about getting a job is that there are so many things that you can do. You can work at a summer camp, do a paying internship, work at a restaurant and more. You can do almost anything. You just have to look around and go for it!
The money part: Most teenagers make anything between minimum wage and $10 an hour. That's big bucks for us! You can deposit your money into your savings or checking account at the credit union and make more money by letting your paychecks earn interest.
Getting Hired: Make sure that when you go for your interview you look great. Don't wear something that would not be appropriate for the job that you applied for. Be respectful and always smile. Show the employer that you are someone that they need on their employee team.
Finally, make sure that your heart is in the job you choose. The worst thing that you can do is choose a job that isn't right for you. You won’t be happy. Choose a job that you like, and then have fun doing it. Jobs are a learning experience, and why not learn while having fun? Don't be stressed. Once you get that great job, you'll see it's not a big deal.
You can always think this way: If you don't get your summer dream job, you can always start your own little business doing something that you like. You can do hair, fix things, mow lawns, do a paper route. There are so many things to do, just put your mind to it and you can do anything. GO FOR IT!!! |
